Sand FAQs

Interest Meeting - Wednesday March 12th 5:30-6:30 Shelter 2 at Bur Mil Park  

 

Location: Our sand courts are located at Bur Mil Park behind Shelter 2, Bur-Mill Club Rd, Greensboro, NC 27410

 

Training Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays 6 pm - 8 pm, Sundays are invite only Elite Training 3 pm - 5 pm

The Season starts April 8 to the end of July

Sand coaching philosophy: It is very laid back, with the focus on skills and play.  Lots of learning the differences between indoor vs sand rules.  In addition, sand volleyball is a wonderful way to keep in shape and condition for indoor volleyball. 

 

Sand fees: 

Monthly - $200.00 per month

Season - $700.00 for 4 months (full season includes Jersey)

 

Player Equipment: Comfortable t-shirt and shorts.  Sunblock, towels and lots of water.  Sand is played barefoot, but for the hot days you may want to invest in a pair of sand socks.  Sand volleyballs will be provided, but players should get their own beach volleyballs also so they can practice. 

 

Registrations: All Players must register with USAV, if they played indoor this season they are good.

Tournaments: We host tournaments throughout the summer, there are also other local tournaments that any player is welcome to participate in.  Tournaments aren’t required. Players don’t need to bring a partner, lots of training will give players opportunities to play with different people.  This season we will experiment with 3v3, 5v5 (for 12U), in addition to our regular 2v2 playing format.

Weather: If it rains we train.  If the park closes we do not train.  We constantly track the weather, when the lightning is less than 10 miles we halt play and go to the shelter. If the storm will last we will stop practice.
